May graduated from the University of Michigan in 1895 and was the Head of the Latin Department for Toledo Public Schools. She was elected to the inaugural Board of Trustees for a four-year term, and with her sister, Camilla, opened their homes for a joint meeting of the Grand Council and the Board of Trustees to craft a plan for improved fraternity health in 1931. May died on May 18, 1935, following an extended illness, and was laid to rest at the Saint Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Ann Arbor.
