Kate’s enthusiasm for Alpha Phi was infectious, and her immense loyalty to the organization was demonstrated by her involvement. She served as the first recording secretary of the chapter and, along with Martha Foote Crow, wrote our ritual and the first Constitution. She also served as Alpha Phi’s third International President in 1875. In 1901, Kate pledged the Fraternity’s first legacy — her daughter — Ruth Gilbert Becker (Alpha-Syracuse), continuing the legacy of Alpha Phi for generations to come.
