Wine Information:

Stately & Royal:

Known by every Tri Sigma, “Stately and Royal” has long been sung at events celebrating our milestones. Composed in 1903 by J. Miller Leake, the song was originally set to the tune of a popular Spanish love ballad. It became a Sigma original in 1936 when Convention delegates voted to adopt music by Edwyl Redding, an accomplished concert pianist, initiate of the Sigma Chapter, and 1941 Emily Gates Alumnae Award winner for the hymn’s “soul-stirring music.”

We introduce you to our Stately & Royal Pinot Noir. From the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County, this beautiful wine is influenced mostly by the fog of the AVA and is very aromatic, with a velvet mouthfeel, and has a fruit character that is ripe and intense.

April Flowers:

On a spring day in April 1898, the founders picked purple violets from nearby woods to use in their very first initiation ceremony—and the Tri Sigma flower has remained unchanged ever since. As such, let’s raise a glass to springtime: “Like the violets each spring, so blooms a renewed fondness of our beloved sorority.”

We introduce you to April Flowers. This Chardonnay is a real gem. Hailing from the cool and foggy climate for the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, this beautiful medium-bodied wine was grown slowly to build intense flavors over time. This wine was aged in French oak and displays a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and liveliness on the palate and exhibits lush mango and toasted almond. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Russian River Chardonnay.

Steadfast:

The bonds of friendship in Tri Sigma are constant. From our everlasting vow to our sisterhood, to the lifelong memories we carry with us. Our inaugural red reminds us that as we continue to move ever forward into new and unknown waters, one thing will always remain: Our sisterhood keeps us steadfast through life.

We introduce you to “Steadfast”. This proprietary red blend – from our award-winning winemaker Todd Heth – exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.

1898 Reserve:

Every sparkling pearl on our indented triangle badge is beautiful and unique, just as our sisterhood is made beautiful and unique by each sister added. Celebrating all that our sisters have brought to Tri Sigma, our 1898 Reserve brut sparkling reminds us of all we have given and received from our membership.

We introduce to you 1898 Reserve. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Brut exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.

Years Remembered - 1913:

The year 1913 marked Tri Sigma’s 8th National Convention at the elegant Lenox Hotel in Buffalo, New York, and the beginning of what would become Mabel Lee Walton’s 34-year term as Grand President, as it was known then. Mabel Lee would later oversee the transition of Tri Sigma to a professional educational sorority and set the stage for Tri Sigma to become a member of the National Panhellenic Conference. Sigma grew swiftly during her term, and many of the national and chapter elements she established are still used today.

We introduce you to our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Years Remembered – 1913. This is a premium and classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of black cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by hints of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.

Meet Me at the Clock:

Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, is the birthplace of four national sororities—Kappa Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Sigma Alpha, and our beloved Sigma. Known collectively as the “Farmville Four,” the group gifted a clock to campus in 1997 to commemorate 100 years of sorority life on campus. On April 23, 2023, Sigmas are invited to “Meet us at the Clock” to celebrate the 125th anniversary of our founding, April 20, 1898.

We introduce you to Meet Me at the Clock. Our 2021 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon. The watermelon and strawberry notes burst out of the glass. When served cool on a warm day, the juicy acidity of the 2021 Rosé makes for a very refreshing and versatile wine, perfect to share on any occasion. Look for the hidden imagery in the rose petals.
