Mountain Strong: 

There is something special about Saturdays in Boone, when generations of Mountaineers gather and Black & Gold fills the High Country. Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, our community united with neighbors helping neighbors and Mountaineers answering the call. Through service, generosity, and resilience, we embodied what it means to be Mountain Strong. Raise a glass to our mountains, traditions, and community.

We introduce you to Mountain Strong. The 2023 vintage will be remembered for its cool conditions throughout the summer and into harvest, shaping a beautifully expressive Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. Layered aromas of blackberry, baking spices, cranberry, cardamom, anise, and floral rose burst forth on the nose, while zingy cherry juice, cola nut, black tea, pomegranate, and hints of lemon zest unfold on the palate of this lush round Pinot that is braced by bright acidity.

The Mountaineer Pride: 

As a Mountaineer, you know you are a part of something bigger than yourself. People from different backgrounds and cultures gather in fellowship in the Blue Ridge Mountains to become part of the Pride. By sharing experiences with one another at Kidd Brewer Stadium, the Duck Pond or Durham Park – a bond is formed between us Mountaineers that is truly unbreakable.

With every bottle of Mountain Born Napa Valley wine, proceeds will benefit and support our great institution and important athletics programs. Appalachian State University creates a spirit and passion among its students that they carry with them for the rest of their lives. That spirit and passion is none other than The Mountaineer Pride.  

We introduce you to The Mountaineer Pride. Our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of black cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.

High Country: 

Nestled in a valley of the Appalachian Mountains, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, sits Appalachian State University. One of the most beautiful settings in the country, Boone and the surrounding communities are commonly referred to as the “High Country.”

We introduce to you High Country. From the chalky soil of the Carneros region in southern Napa Valley, this gem exhibits lush green apple and bright grapefruit notes while dancing across your palate. This stunning wine is light and friendly with very subtle vanilla and pear blossom hints on the nose. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Napa Chardonnay.
