Ridgewood Road:
To anyone else, Ridgewood Road is just another street. To our Alpha sisters, it is their home away from home. The iconic house evokes the same feelings of warmth and sweetness that a sip of the Pinot Noir can do. This tribute to our Alpha Chapter takes us back to Ithaca, New York on that March day when the sisterhood we know and love first began.
We introduce you to Ridgewood Road. Our Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County experiences a lengthy and cool growing season that is similar to the climate of the Burgundy region of east-central France. Unlike Burgundy, our Pinot Noir experiences dense fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean; this fog contributes to the ideal climate for Pinot Noir, offering just enough moisture to be beneficial without lingering too long.
This Pinot Noir has aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and brown sugar with notes of baking spices. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, fruit flavors of strawberries, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and soft, velvety tannins on a long, elegant finish.
Bloom:
When Sigma Delta Tau sisters hear “Bloom,” they are reminded of two important components of our organization: one of our founders, Dora Bloom Turteltaub, and our flower, the golden tea rose. The rose is found in many aspects of SDT tradition including the preference ceremony during recruitment and our initiation ritual. The petal, the rose, and the rose bush represent the individual member, chapter, and sisterhood of Sigma Delta Tau. It is our hope that membership in our sorority allows each of these elements to grow and bloom more fully.
We introduce you to Bloom. Hailing from the cool and foggy climate for the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, this beautiful medium-bodied wine was grown slowly to build intense flavors over time. This wine was aged in French oak and displays a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and liveliness on the palate and exhibits lush mango and toasted almond. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Russian River Chardonnay.
The Brain:
More interested in her studies than in campus activities, Marian Gerber Greenberg earned her nickname “The Brain”. After graduating with honors in History, Marian continued her pursuit of knowledge by co-authoring two books with her husband and teaching courses in Judaic Studies at the University of Massachusetts.
We introduce you to The Brain. This plush and luxurious 2019 Napa Valley Red Wine is an artful red blend that exhibits aromas of cassis, blackberry, bing cherry with plum notes, as well as layers of coffee and tobacco. On the palate, it is robust and full-bodied with rich, firm tannins framing the complex berry flavors as they glide to a dark and delicious finish.
DAMGIRL:
Our sparkling wine was created to honor the seven women who founded Sigma Delta Tau at Cornell University in 1917. Each founder brought something unique to the organization and their collective spirit created the legacy our sisters have been gifted. The DAMGIRL acronym was created as a way to highlight and discuss our founders using the first letter of each of their first names. Open a bottle of DAMGIRL wine to celebrate our seven founders and the special occasions in your life.
We introduce you to DAMGIRL. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Brut exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.
The Personality Amy:
Only a Napa Cabernet can embody the spirit of our founder Amy Apfel Tishman, who was affectionately revered as the personality plus coed. Amy dedicated much of her life's work to supporting several philanthropic organizations. Following her death, the Tishman family continued her charitable legacy by bequeathing a Sigma Delta Tau Foundation scholarship in her name, ensuring her support of our sisterhood continues in perpetuity.
We introduce you to The Personality Amy. Our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of black cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.
Golden Tea:
The golden tea rose is symbolic to every Sigma Delta Tau sister. More than just a flower, this bloom meaningfully connects members to one another and our sisterhood at large. In that spirit, we introduce you to our Golden Tea Rosé. The watermelon and strawberry notes burst out of the glass. When served cool on a warm day, the juicy acidity of the 2021 Rosé makes for a very refreshing and versatile wine, perfect to share on any occasion but especially with a sister.
