Wine Information:

Strength:

Two lions grace either side of Phi Mu’s coat of arms, supporting and holding a shield. In addition to strength, lions embody many positive qualities that are relevant to us: family, nobility, courage, protectiveness and leadership. This wine is named for the strength that we find through our sisterhood and within all of our members.

Our Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County experiences a lengthy and cool growing season that is similar to the climate of the Burgundy region of east-central France. Unlike Burgundy, our Pinot Noir experiences dense fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean; this fog contributes to the ideal climate for Pinot Noir, offering just enough moisture to be beneficial without lingering too long.

We introduce you to Strength. This Pinot Noir has aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and brown sugar with notes of baking spices. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, fruit flavors of strawberries, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and soft, velvety tannins on a long, elegant finish.

Aglaia:

Aglaia was one of the three Graces commonly mentioned in Greek mythology who were ‘graceful and beautiful maidens.’ While it is not documented why early Phi Mus chose Aglaia for the name of our magazine, one theory is that, spelled phonetically, Aglaia may mean ‘angel or messenger.’ Which of course works perfectly for that important way we communicate with members.

We introduce you to Aglaia. This Chardonnay is a real gem. Hailing from the cool and foggy climate for the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, this beautiful medium-bodied wine was grown slowly to build intense flavors over time. This wine was aged in French oak and displays a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and liveliness on the palate and exhibits lush mango and toasted almond. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Russian River Chardonnay.

Honor:

Ask any Phi Mu to share our values and she’ll undoubtedly say “Love, Honor and Truth.” This bottle is the second in a series of three, and the theme of the second stanza of the Phi Mu Creed: honor. “Being honorable, courteous, tender, thus being true to the womanhood of honor.” Enjoy this red wine with your sisters and those you love!

We introduce you to Honor. This 2019 Red Wine is an artful red blend created by winemaker Todd Heth. This wine exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.

Philomathean:

In 1852, young students at Wesleyan College, the first institution to grant degrees to women, founded the Philomathean Society as a literary organization to support one another in their academic endeavors. The Philomathean Society became Phi Mu Fraternity in 1904. The spirit of the Philomatheans, and of our sisters always being there for one another, lives on in every Phi Mu. Raise a glass of bubbly Philomathean for any celebratory occasion and toast to our everlasting, steadfast sisterhood!

We introduce you to Philomathean. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly with 100% Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Blanc de Noirs exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.

1852 Reserve:

The year 1852 enriched the lives of hundreds of thousands of Phi Mus and of those yet to join. The founding date of the Philomathean Society, which later became Phi Mu Fraternity, is placed at January 4, 1852. On March 4 of that year, the members announced their new Society to Wesleyan Female College. That date has become when Phi Mu’s Founders’ Day is celebrated.

We introduce you to 1852 Reserve. Our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of black cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.

Pink Goes With Everything:

Pink, formally “rose pink,” is Phi Mu’s signature color. It goes with everything! As do sisterhood and time spent with loved ones. Rosé is no longer reserved for the summertime and it’s perfect for a wide range of palates. This Les Soeurs Fideles Rosé is fitting for any occasion – open a bottle at a formal celebration, for a fun evening at home with friends, or even for a relaxing bubble bath! Pink, and Phi Mu, go with everything!

We introduce you to Pink Goes With Everything, our 2021 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon. The watermelon and strawberry notes burst out of the glass. When served cool on a warm day, the juicy acidity of the 2021 Rosé makes for a very refreshing and versatile wine, perfect to share on any occasion. Look for the hidden imagery in the rose petals.
