Born on November 7, 1877, in Palmyra Township, Knox County, Indiana, George Martin Patterson embarked on a journey that led him to Vincennes University, where he graduated in 1897. After college, Patterson committed himself to public service for six years, as he served as Deputy Recorder of Knox County before returning to his roots as a farmer. In 1906, he married Mattie M. Purcell, and they raised two daughters. Notably, the Patterson family residence, Rose Hill, was generously donated to Sigma Pi in 1989. On April 7, 1960, Patterson passed to the Adytum on High.
