On the cold night of December 21, 1865, in the southernmost room of the old South Dorm at Washington College in Lexington, Virginia, three students gathered for a Christmas-time celebration. There, in the room of William Archibald Walsh, James Ward Wood offered a solemn tribute—recorded in the Order’s Archives as, “A Toast to the Two Williams.”
Wood, Walsh, and William Nelson Scott, together pledged their mutual faith and loyalty. From that quiet spark, the idea for Kappa Alpha Order was born. This sparkling Brut from Excelsior Napa honors that beginning—marked not by grandeur, but by purpose. May each of your “toasts” recall the spirit of our founding evening and renew your commitment to the values first kindled in 1865.
This sparkling Brut is a harmonious blend of select varietals prized for both their aromatic lift and structural elegance. The palate is vibrant and refreshing, carrying through to a clean, aromatic finish. On the nose, lively notes of lemon and orange zest unfold, followed by crisp apple and ripe pear. A delicate hint of vanilla cupcake adds a soft, creamy sweetness that rounds out the profile beautifully.
