Wine Information:
Birch Cottage:
Home to Bettie Locke during her years at Indiana Asbury, Birch Cottage was one of many gathering places for the earliest members of Theta. “…decided to have a supper & jollification at Birch Cottage in the evening two weeks from this time… After talking and laughing until almost dark, we bade goodbye and left in high glee, for we had a splendid time.” Hopefully, a bottle of Birch Cottage will bring Thetas together for jollification the same way Birch Cottage once did.
We introduce you to Birch Cottage. This 2019 Red Wine is an artful red blend created by winemaker Todd Heth. This wine exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry, and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long-lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.
Twin Stars:
On every Theta badge since 1870, the Twin Stars have shined. Over 250,000 members have since worn the Theta badge, understanding the special meaning of the Twin Stars. The badge fastened above our hearts reminds us of the connection we share through ritual and sisterhood with members today, tomorrow, and from decades past.
We introduce you to Twin Stars. Our Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County experiences a lengthy and cool growing season that is similar to the climate of the Burgundy region of east-central France. Unlike Burgundy, our Pinot Noir experiences dense fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean; this fog contributes to the ideal climate for Pinot Noir, offering just enough moisture to be beneficial without lingering too long.
Twin Stars has aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and brown sugar with notes of baking spices. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, fruit flavors of strawberries, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and soft, velvety tannins on a long, elegant finish.
Black & Gold:
For more than 150 years, the black and gold kite has remained the most recognizable symbol of our beloved Fraternity. Walking proudly to the front of the chapel, our founders proudly donned their kite badges for all to see that the sisterhood of Kappa Alpha Theta was taking flight. The Black & Gold Brut was created in honor of celebrating the best of times with our Theta sisters.
We introduce to you "Black & Gold". This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made using the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found in the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Brut exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follow through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.
Leading Women:
Theta believes that leadership is not conveyed by a title. Leadership is a process to push ourselves and others to strive for more. Thetas aren’t afraid to stand out, to be authentic, and to make a difference together. Adapted from the handwriting of Bettie Locke Hamilton, the Leading Women script on the front of this bottle honors the original leading woman. Let us celebrate the sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta, past, present, and future, who work together to move the Fraternity forward.
We introduce you to Leading Women, our 2021 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon. The watermelon and strawberry notes burst out of the glass. When served cool on a warm day, the juicy acidity of the 2021 Rosé makes for a very refreshing and versatile wine, perfect for sharing on any occasion. Look for the hidden imagery in the rose petals.
