Wine Information:
Uncle Billy:
William Lazell Phillips, better known to brothers as “Uncle Billy,” dedicated much of his life to SigEp. Uncle Billy served in many roles, including as the Fraternity’s first Grand Secretary, first editor of the SigEp Journal and Grand President. Laying the foundation of what SigEp is today — a pioneer among fraternities — he founded dozens of new chapters while traveling to campuses around the country and publishing stories that kept alumni connected long after graduation. Each release of the SigEp Icons Series will feature a new SigEp Icon. We couldn’t think of a better first choice than Uncle Billy. This full-bodied red blend reflects Uncle Billy’s unrelenting energy and bold spirit.
In his honor, we introduce to you, Uncle Billy. This proprietary red blend – from our award-winning winemaker Todd Heth – exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.
1901:
1901 marks the beginning. Since our founding, more than 350,000 men have been shaped through the Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love learned through their commitment to Sigma Phi Epsilon. And just as “the twelve” created a lasting legacy in 1901, each brother since has promised to leave his mark on the world through “any worthy endeavor.”
We introduce you to our 1901 Pinot Noir. From the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County, this beautiful wine is influenced mostly by the fog of the AVA and is very aromatic, with a velvet mouthfeel, and has a fruit character that is ripe and intense.
Serenade:
An ode to those who are most special to us, the Serenade Chardonnay was inspired by our loved ones and the songs we sing about them. Drawing on the design from early sheet music of a SigEp love song, the art deco-style label reflects the time-honored tradition of our Fraternity and its sweethearts. Much like our songs, this wine reflects the strength of our brotherhood and our devotion to those we hold dear.
We introduce to you, Serenade. From the chalky soil of the Carneros region in southern Napa Valley, this gem exhibits lush green apple and bright grapefruit notes while dancing across your palate. This stunning wine is light and friendly with very subtle vanilla and pear blossom hints on the nose. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Napa Chardonnay.
Golden Heart:
The golden heart is the eternal emblem of Sigma Phi Epsilon and our inaugural Sparkling Brut. The bond between brothers is true friendship and can never be broken and is best exemplified by the decades of service given by the recipients of SigEp’s highest honor, the Order of the Golden Heart. Gather together and raise a glass of Golden Heart Brut to rejoice with your brothers and celebrate the love you share with SigEp.
We introduce to you, Golden Heart. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Brut exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.
