Wine Information:
The Bear:
The Greater Yellowstone ecosystem and northwest Montana are the only areas south of Canada that still have large Grizzly bear populations. Grizzly bears are considered a keystone species, meaning they are very important to the wildlife and environment. As an apex predator, they are at the top of the food chain and are not preyed on by any other animal. Humans are the biggest threat to the Grizzly bear, and this holds true both literally and metaphorically in season 1, episode 7, “A Monster Is Among Us,” when a Grizzly bear confronts a pair of tourists.

The Bear
. This proprietary red blend – from our award-winning winemaker Todd Heth – exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry, and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long-lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.
The Wolf:
The wolf is one of Montana’s most important predators and has roamed the landscape and influenced the ecosystem for thousands of years. Wolves live in packs and communicate through body language, scent marking, barking, growling and howling. When a wolf wants to challenge another wolf, it will growl or lay its ears back on its head. Barking is used as a warning, and howling is for long-distance communication to pull a pack back together and to keep strangers away. Wolves are undoubtedly a complex and important symbol in
Yellowstone
, representing both the enemies that encircle the Yellowstone Ranch and the ones that protect it.

.
This beautiful Chardonnay is carefully crafted from fruit of the chalky soil and cooler climate of Carneros in southern Napa Valley. This wine was aged in French oak for fourteen months and displays a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and liveliness on the palate. Its balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of premium Napa Valley Chardonnay.
The Crow:
Throughout history and human mythology, the crow has been a larger-than-life symbol. A carrion feeder, a crow eats the dead. Much of our folklore – no matter the culture – paints the crow as a herald or harbinger of death. In
Yellowstone
, the crow taunts John Dutton directly with his fate.
