Wine Information:

The Three Mergers - 1939:

Phi Pi Phi was founded in 1915 at Northwestern as a graduate fraternity. Discussions took place between Phi Pi Phi and Alpha Sigma Phi during 1937 and into 1938. One element of the merger proposal that impressed Phi Pi Phi was the willingness of Alpha Sigma Phi to take in all initiates of Phi Pi Phi, not just the undergraduate members of active chapters. By the merger in 1939, Alpha Sigma Phi added chapters at Case Institute of Technology, Baldwin Wallace College, Westminster College, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Purdue University.

We introduce you to The Three Mergers - 1939. This elegant white wine blend is alluring and complex, with a sensuous offering of tropical fruits, white flowers and subtle spice. The nose is like a bouquet of flowers and jumps from the glass with ripe lemon, white peach and orange blossom followed by notes of toast and white pepper. On the tongue, lemon bursts forward with pineapple and other tropical fruit, with undertones of vanilla. The finish is bright and zingy and mellows with vanilla and subtle spices in its length.

The Three Mergers - 1946:

Alpha Kappa Pi granted 34 charters and its chapters were almost exclusively east of the Mississippi River. Between 1926 and 1941, Rev. Wilson served as the administrative officer of Alpha Kappa Pi, operating out of his church offices. At the end of the war, Rev. Wilson retired from the ministry and advised the fraternity that a proper national staff and headquarters would be needed for the organization to continue. In 1946, Alpha Kappa Pi had seventeen operating chapters and was in no financial position to acquire an office and staff. Between the two organizations, Alpha Kappa Pi and Alpha Sigma Phi, however, it was financially feasible to afford an office and staff. The merger was announced at the Alpha Sigma Phi Centennial Convention in Marietta, Ohio and at the Silver Anniversary Convention of Alpha Kappa Pi in Ocean City, New Jersey on September 6, 1946.

The Three Mergers - 1965:

Four students founded Alpha Gamma Upsilon at Anthony Wayne Institute in Fort Wayne, Indiana during the spring of 1922. The merger of Alpha Gamma Upsilon with Alpha Sigma Phi was a quiet affair. Dr. Otto Sonder, an alumnus of the Beta Chi Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi at American University, was the faculty advisor for the Alpha Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Lycoming College and was involved in the discussion of the merger. Brother Sonder was also aware of the concern the small fraternity had for its future, and introduced them to Alpha Sigma Phi's Executive Secretary, Ralph F. Burns. In 1965, the Alpha Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Lycoming was installed as Gamma Rho Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi. The "Old Gal" gained five chapters from the merger.

We introduce you to The Three Mergers: 1965. With a slight golden yellow color, bringing forth all the gold this wine has to offer, from honeyed fruits, ripe golden pear, honeydew, golden pineapple, golden raisin and floral honeysuckle in the nose, to very broad mouthfilling and intense fruit on the palate, with rich mango, quince and jasmine tea built on a creamy texture that make the wine not only fun but full bodied and long.
