Wine Information:

1874 Reserve:

Whether you spot a crescent on a tile, necklace or shining in the sky, odds are you think of Gamma Phi Beta and the countless friendships and memories created. The crescent moon is one of the most frequently recognized symbols of Gamma Phi Beta, and it means so much to each member who knows its true meaning. No matter where you are in the world, when you look up in the night sky and see a waxing crescent – the first moon – you’ll always think of our sisterhood. Our 1874 Reserve brut sparkling was created to celebrate the best of times with our sisters.

We introduce you to 1874 Reserve. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Brut exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.

The Artist:

Founder Frances E. Haven Moss made her mark as The Artist among Gamma Phi Beta’s founding sisters, and the original The Artist vintage celebrated the arts and culture that is woven into the fabric of Gamma Phi Beta. Inspired by Frances’s legacy, this chardonnay highlights an original work of art, “Wildflower” by Alyssa Hamilton (Northern Iowa), who shared this inspiration: “I imagine my child, and possible legacy, being a wildflower. I have a feeling all that wildness will come together in something undeniably beautiful; bright, vibrant, and full of life.”

We introduce you to The Artist. This Chardonnay is a real gem. Hailing from the cool and foggy climate for the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, this beautiful medium-bodied wine was grown slowly to build intense flavors over time. This wine was aged in French oak and displays a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and liveliness on the palate and exhibits lush mango and toasted almond. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Russian River Chardonnay.

Love:

“Love, Labor, Learning and Loyalty.
Gamma Phi Beta means so much to me…”

Gamma Phi Beta’s core values are True and Constant. They are unwavering reminders of the oath taken to uphold the highest standards. The Values Collection honors these values, beginning with Love. Love for each other, love for ourselves and love for Gamma Phi Beta.

As stated so eloquently by the beloved “Love, Labor, Learning and Loyalty” song from our 1980 Convention:
“There’s a reason here for a reason above.
A lifetime of sisterhood flowing with love.”

We introduce you to Love as a part of the “The Values Collection”. Thiis Red Wine is an artful red blend created by winemaker Todd Heth. This wine exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.

First Sorority:

What does it mean to be the first? It’s setting the trend for others to follow. It’s forging a new path, using your True and Constant values as a compass. In 1882, Professor Frank Smalley of Syracuse University remarked to a Gamma Phi member, “I presume that you young women feel very elated over being members of a sorority.” Delighted with this new word that meant “sisterhood,” Gamma Phi Beta members immediately adopted it, thus becoming the first (but certainly not the last) Greek-letter organization to identify themselves as a sorority.

We introduce you to First Sorority. Our Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County experiences a lengthy and cool growing season that is similar to the climate of the Burgundy region of east-central France. Unlike Burgundy, our Pinot Noir experiences dense fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean; this fog contributes to the ideal climate for Pinot Noir, offering just enough moisture to be beneficial without lingering too long.

First Sorority has aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and brown sugar with notes of baking spices. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, fruit flavors of strawberries, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and soft, velvety tannins on a long, elegant finish.
