Wine Information:

Cogburn Reserve:

John Wayne’s love of Western themes was not about simply promulgating an image. He really loved the West.  His heartfelt belief was that America’s frontier was, back in the day, a place of wide-open spaces where pioneering acts of heroism and adventure occurred in pursuit of a better life. He found such notions enchanting, romantic, and inspiring.

In True Grit (1969), he played a drunken, foul-tempered but endearing U.S. Marshal named Rooster Cogburn, who becomes an unlikely hero when he helps a young girl avenge the murder of her father. He liked the character so much that he made his only sequel, Rooster Cogburn (1975). John Wayne’s Oscar for True Grit in 1970 was a long-overdue reward for one of America’s icons. The painting of John Wayne as Cogburn on this elegant and bold Pinot Noir was created by western actor and artist Buck Taylor – a close friend of the Wayne family.

We introduce you to Cogburn Reserve. From the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County, this beautiful wine is influenced mostly by the fog of the AVA and is very aromatic, with a velvet mouthfeel, and has a fruit character that is ripe and intense.

26 Bar:

John Wayne lived as he worked during his free time, spending time out on the range raising cattle and chasing adventures on the open water – a true outdoorsman.

Along with his longtime friend Louis Johnson, The Duke owned a 39-mile working purebred Hereford cattle ranch in Arizona – the 26 Bar Ranch. It raised more than 400 bulls each year. He frequently attended the Hereford production sales and often winning at the big stock shows.

“Courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway.” – John Wayne

We introduce you to 26 Bar, from the chalky soil of the Carneros region in southern Napa Valley, this beauty exhibits balanced fruit with tarte acidity making this wine a classic example of Premium Napa Valley Chardonnay and sure to bring home top prize at the show.

The Duke:

John Wayne is the portrait of an American whose confidence embodies the virtues that are well worth preserving: the dislike for pettiness and love of hard work; the courage to be lonely in pursuing your goals; the respect for individuals in all their determination; and above all, the willingness to fight and die for a cause bigger than yourself. All of that is John Wayne, and it’s neither male nor female, conservative nor liberal. What it is, and always was, is American.

“All I’m for is the liberty of the individual.” – John Wayne

We introduce you to The Duke. Crafted in the Bordeaux style, this wine features dark blackberry, cherry, and plum, with hints of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with lasting berry notes and silky, firm tannins - enjoyable now, with great aging potential.

The Duke:

More significant than any screen performance was John Wayne’s real-life commitment to the brave men and women of our United States Armed Forces. John Wayne represented the heart of America by showing his unwavering appreciation to military service members sacrificing their lives by participating in USO tours during World War II and the Vietnam War. Duke would perform and meet with soldiers, giving them a bit of home and a reason to press on.

“I am an old-fashioned, honest-to-goodness, flag waving patriot.” – John Wayne

We introduce you to The Duke. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly with 100% Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Blanc de Noirs exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.

The Duke Reserve:

John Wayne is the portrait of an America whose confidence embodies the virtues that are well worth preserving: the contempt for pettiness and love of hard work; the courage to be lonely in pursuing your goals; the respect for individuals in all their cussedness; and above all, the willingness to fight and die for a cause bigger than yourself. All of that is John Wayne, and it’s neither male nor female, conservative nor liberal. What it is, and always was, is American.

“All I’m for is the liberty of the individual.” – John Wayne

We introduce you to The Duke, our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of black cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.

Fairwinds 2021 Rosé of Cabernet:

Our Rose of Cabernet 2021 hails from the Russian River Valley, offering a delightful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon in rosé form. Vibrant aromas of fresh strawberries and watermelon precede flavors of red berries and citrus zest. A crisp acidity and a hint of floral notes on the finish make this rosé a perfect companion for sunny days.
