Anchor 1881:Â
The first anchor badges used by Delta Gamma were designed in 1877. The sketch here dates to 1881 when it was sent to several authorized jewelers to produce. The result was considerable variation in the style of badges from this era. The anchor is an age-old symbol of hope. The badge pairs this with a shield to represent the ideals of the Fraternity. Just three years after this sketch was made the first edition of The ANCHORA would be produced with the cover heavily referencing this symbol.
We introduce you to Anchor 1881. This premium 2019 Red Wine is an artful red blend created by winemaker Todd Heth. This wine exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.
Dream Girl:Â
Delta Gamma songs offer cherished memories and traditions for our sisters. From the pursuit of new members to our beloved ritual, specific tunes inspire connection and elicit memories which reflect the very best, most cherished moments of sisterhood. For nearly 100 years, there has been one all-time favorite song that has stood the test of time. Dream Girl was first shared at the 1936 biennial Convention in Lake Placid, New York where Alpha Kappa chapter submitted it for a first place prize in the Convention song contest. The now-renowned song was written for Vera Rickenbacker Stowell, Alpha Kappa-Washburn. Still today, the song remains a tribute to all who wear our golden anchor and stand behind the bronze, the pink and blue.
This label highlights a sketch that was featured on the main program for the Eleventh Delta Gamma Convention in 1899, held in Albion, Michigan. The dream girl in this sketch is wearing a traditional, Victorian era evening dress featuring the Bertha neckline and beehive silhouette. The terms “dream girl” embodies so much more than a sweetheart romance in the hearts of Delta Gammas today. The term is used to describe the embodiment of those that exemplify the values of Delta Gamma. Values that have remained steadfast since since the time of our founding during the Victorian era.
We introduce to you Dream Girl. From the chalky soil of the Carneros region in southern Napa Valley, this gem exhibits lush green apple and bright grapefruit notes while dancing across your palate. This stunning wine is light and friendly with very subtle vanilla and pear blossom hints on the nose. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Napa Chardonnay.
