Sesquicentennial. A big word for a big milestone. From Convention 2022 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, through Convention 2024 in Palm Desert, California, Delta Gamma celebrated turning 150 years old. Planning began several years earlier as three major events would take place in the span of two years. While the two Conventions bookended the celebration, the third major event was held in 2023, Homecoming Celebration Weekend.
Homecoming Celebration Weekend saw more than 700 Delta Gammas gathered at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, to commemorate the historic event. The highlight of the weekend was the self-guided audio tour of historic sites. Attendees took a one-and-a-half-hour bus ride from the hotel to Oxford, Mississippi, where trolleys ran on a loop between five historically significant sites: the Oxford Train Depot, Lewis School, Oxford Town Square, Alpha Psi House and First Presbyterian Church. Each site included a QR code for attendees to listen to or read about the history and significance of that site to Delta Gamma.
We introduce you to Remembrance 150 Years. Cab is king. And in a vintage like this, it shows, as our standard bearer is big, dark, structured and showy. With aromas of blackberry, kirsch and cedar, over a hint of pencil lead. Dense, dark, intense and with sweet fruits on the palate, it is a big wine that will benefit from decanting or giving it time to air as it reveals more layers and depth with each sip.
