Wine Information:
Anchor 1881:
The first anchor badges used by Delta Gamma were designed in 1877. The sketch here dates to 1881 when it was sent to several authorized jewelers to produce. The result was considerable variation in the style of badges from this era. The anchor is an age-old symbol of hope. The badge pairs this with a shield to represent the ideals of the Fraternity. Just three years after this sketch was made the first edition of The
ANCHORA
would be produced with the cover heavily referencing this symbol.
We introduce you to Anchor 1881. This premium 2019 Red Wine is an artful red blend created by winemaker Todd Heth. This wine exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.
Fireside:
Since the 1890s firesides have been a tradition among Delta Gamma members. These informal gatherings are a time to connect with our sisters in a meaningful and authentic way. During these quiet periods of reflection, the true bonds of friendship are formed.
The Delta Gamma Fireside Song featured on this bottle was written by two members whose melody and lyrics capture the essence of the connection felt by all who wear the anchor.
We introduce you to Fireside. Our Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County experiences a lengthy and cool growing season that is similar to the climate of the Burgundy region of east-central France. Unlike Burgundy, our Pinot Noir experiences dense fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean; this fog contributes to the ideal climate for Pinot Noir, offering just enough moisture to be beneficial without lingering too long.
Fireside has aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and brown sugar with notes of baking spices. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, fruit flavors of strawberries, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and soft, velvety tannins on a long, elegant finish.
Union:
“The Union of Souls is an Anchor in Storms.” This quote adorned the first
ANCHORA
published in April 1884. The official publication of Delta Gamma has been in continuous publication since its inception. Delta Gamma was the second women’s fraternity to publish a journal. Accompanied by an allegorical image the message of support, belonging, and unity is clear. Delta Gamma Fraternity brings together and empowers communities for women across college campuses, united by the values of the organization.
We introduce you to Union. This Chardonnay is a real gem. Hailing from the cool and foggy climate for the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, this beautiful medium-bodied wine was grown slowly to build intense flavors over time. This wine was aged in French oak and displays a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and liveliness on the palate and exhibits lush mango and toasted almond. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Russian River Chardonnay.
Celebrate Hope:
Our beloved Anchor was chosen as our badge in 1877 because it is the age-old symbol for hope. Today, in each sister, chapter and milestone, we continue to celebrate the hope that connects each of us. We celebrate the hope we have in each other and in our pursuit of doing good. And we celebrate the promise of sisterhood that has been our anchor in life’s many storms and successes.
We have many to thank for the growth and success we have experienced throughout the last 147 years and all the years to come. May this bottle be shared in celebration as we toast the ever-expanding lifetime bonds of our Delta Gamma sisterhood.
We introduce to you Celebrate Hope. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Brut exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.
