Delta Gamma songs offer cherished memories and traditions for our sisters. From the pursuit of new members to our beloved ritual, specific tunes inspire connection and elicit memories which reflect the very best, most cherished moments of sisterhood. For nearly 100 years, there has been one all-time favorite song that has stood the test of time. Dream Girl was first shared at the 1936 biennial Convention in Lake Placid, New York where Alpha Kappa chapter submitted it for a first place prize in the Convention song contest. The now-renowned song was written for Vera Rickenbacker Stowell, Alpha Kappa-Washburn. Still today, the song remains a tribute to all who wear our golden anchor and stand behind the bronze, the pink and blue.
This label highlights a sketch that was featured on the main program for the Eleventh Delta Gamma Convention in 1899, held in Albion, Michigan. The dream girl in this sketch is wearing a traditional, Victorian era evening dress featuring the Bertha neckline and beehive silhouette. The terms โdream girlโ embodies so much more than a sweetheart romance in the hearts of Delta Gammas today. The term is used to describe the embodiment of those that exemplify the values of Delta Gamma. Values that have remained steadfast since since the time of our founding during the Victorian era.
