The fifth and final wine in the Founders’ Series honors Brother John Covert Boyd. Born in South Carolina in 1850, Founder Boyd attended the University of Virginia from 1869–1871 before earning his medical degree in New York in 1872. He began a distinguished fifty-year career in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, rising to Medical Director and contributing to naval medicine through service afloat and ashore, technical manuals, and international representation. In 1887, he married Katharine Dorr Willard; their son Walter joined      the Zeta Chapter in 1917. Appointed by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1905, Boyd helped incorporate the American National Red Cross. A devoted Kappa Sigma, he shared enduring friendships with fellow Founders until his passing in London in 1927.

We introduce you to Founders Red - John Covert Boyd. This captivating red wine showcases a deep, dark hue, hinting at aromas of damson plum, fig, roasted chestnut, and a lively herbal essence. On the palate, it opens with vibrant, juicy fruit-forward notes before unfolding into layers of baking spices and rich dark fruits. Full-bodied and well-structured, it carries through to a smooth, lingering finish.
