The final Founder in our First Five series is Frances Mann Hall. Known for her wit and sense of humor, Frances played a crucial role in the founding of our Sorority, proposing the ideal at the base of the secret and symbolic work of the organization, and of the name Sigma Kappa. Forced to leave college before graduating due to debilitating headaches, she went on to co-found the prestigious Hall-Noyes Preparatory School in Washington, D.C. and was awarded an honorary Master of Arts degree by Colby College in 1891. Frances also assisted Zeta Chapter at George Washington University with its petition for a charter in 1906.
