Wine Information:
Fairwinds Dead Reckoning:
When the wind is in your favor, and life’s waves are carrying you forward, the key to happiness is to recognize and appreciate these moments. We named Fairwinds to mark these special times and created our wines for you to ‘live in the moment’ and celebrate the fair winds and following seas of your journey.
While respecting the precision of modern navigation, mariners of old used the Method of dead reckoning. By taking the time spent on each heading and at each speed they could calculate the route and distance the ship had covered and mark a sea chart. For all the precision of modern winemaking, sometimes there’s no substitute for the tried-and-true art of dead reckoning.
We introduce you to Dead Reckoning. From the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County, this beautiful wine is influenced mostly by the fog of the AVA and is very aromatic, with a velvet mouthfeel, and has a fruit character that is ripe and intense.
Canonsburg:
A small coal-mining borough in western Pennsylvania, Canonsburg was home to Jefferson College. In 1852, a series of events joined two Jefferson classmates for life. In a two-story brick house, just a short walk from the college, a meeting of friends established a brotherhood built on the shared values of intellect, morality, spirituality, and loyalty. This crisp white honors the birthplace of Phi Kappa Psi and our first chapter, Pennsylvania Alpha.

This stunning wine is light and friendly with very subtle vanilla and pear blossom hints on the nose. Balanced fruit with tart acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Napa Valley Chardonnay.
1852 FOUNDERS BLEND:
This proprietary blend commemorates the birth of our Brotherhood on February 19, 1852. While students at Jefferson College, our Founders were among a brave few who remained on campus as a typhoid fever epidemic ravaged the community. Through late-night vigils tending to the sick and the mourning, the two developed an unbreakable bond. A year later, as blizzard winds battered the campus, these honorable men gathered to create a brotherhood in the spirit of helping those in need. That fateful wintry night, Phi Kappa Psi was born.
We introduce you to our 1852 Founders Blend. This proprietary red blend – from our award-winning winemaker Todd Heth – exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry, and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long-lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.
The Great Joy:
In the winter of 1851, two men approaching 20 years of age found themselves amid unthinkable circumstances. As typhoid fever struck their college and community, many chose to flee. Young Letterman and Moore chose to stay and give aid and sympathy to those less fortunate. In that choice, a bond was formed through The Great Joy of Serving Others. Raise a glass and share a toast to our founding principle with three high! high! highs!
We introduce you to The Great Joy. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly with 100% Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Blanc de Noirs exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.
LEDN:
In an era where college yells began to resonate across campuses, the 1890 Grand Arch Council commissioned the “Committee on the Fraternity Yell.” After only a few hours of discussion, the three-man committee brought to the floor those famous words of Ernest M. Stires Virginia 1885: “High! High! High! Phi Kappa Psi. Live Ever, Die Never Phi Kappa Psi.” Receiving unanimous approval, it was duly adopted. This bold and enduring Cabernet echoes the spirit of those words, offering rich flavors and a full-bodied finish. A reminder of our ne’er breaking bond, LEDN is more than a wine-it's a celebration of brotherhood, tradition, and a life lived with purpose.
We introduce you to LEDN. Deep garnet in color, the aromas of this 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon are pure and focused - concentrated red and black fruits, with cocoa powder and underlying notes of oak barrel spice supporting the fruit forward nature of this wine. Powerful yet balanced tannins are abundant on the palate and are accompanied by notes of dark cherry and blackberry. The mouthfeel is structured, giving way to a long and graceful finish.
Fairwinds 2021 Rosé of Cabernet:
Our Rose of Cabernet 2021 hails from the Russian River Valley, offering a delightful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon in rosé form. Vibrant aromas of fresh strawberries and watermelon precede flavors of red berries and citrus zest. A crisp acidity and a hint of floral notes on the finish make this rosé a perfect companion for sunny days.
