Wine Information:
Granite Hills:
To permanently mark Theta Chi’s birthplace in the granite hills of Vermont, a monument was unveiled and dedicated during the 75th Anniversary Convention in 1931.
Made of granite taken from the surrounding hills, it bears the following inscription: “On a site two hundred feet northeast of this monument in the Old South Barracks of Norwich University, Frederick Norton Freeman, ’57, and Arthur Chase, ’56, founded Theta Chi Fraternity at 9 P.M., April 10, 1856.”
We hope Granite Hills, our 2020 Pinot Noir, remains just as timeless and commemorates your special occasions, a meal with loved ones, or a time to relax and reflect.
Our Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County experiences a lengthy and cool growing season that is similar to the climate of the Burgundy region of east-central France. Unlike Burgundy, our Pinot Noir experiences dense fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean; this fog contributes to the ideal climate for Pinot Noir, offering just enough moisture to be beneficial without lingering too long.
Granite Hills has aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and brown sugar with notes of baking spices. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, fruit flavors of strawberries, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and soft, velvety tannins on a long, elegant finish.
Dream Girl:
“The smile in her glance tells of tender romance and a love that I’m longing to share…”
In the 1940s, renowned Swing and Sway Big Band leader Sammy Kaye (Alpha Tau/Ohio 1932) penned one of Theta Chi’s ultimate love songs which has been sung by brothers across the world to “the girl they will always love best…”
Much like our timeless ballad, Dream Girl Chardonnay is a real gem. Hailing from the cool and foggy climate for the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, this beautiful medium-bodied wine was grown slowly to build intense flavors over time. This wine was aged in French oak and displays a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and liveliness on the palate and exhibits lush mango and toasted almond. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Russian River Chardonnay.
Indivisible:
The theme for our 166th Anniversary Convention represents a united brotherhood gathering in the capital city of the United States of America. Though Resolute Men come from different and diverse backgrounds, the brothers of Theta Chi Fraternity, and their commitment to extending a Helping Hand and to each other, remain Indivisible.
For a limited time and in celebration of Convention, Indivisible is offered to the brotherhood at member pricing.
Vive:
Dr. Robert L. Irish (Alpha/Norwich 1889) penned a lively song of celebration, fellowship, and reflection for the emerging, young fraternity. Take time to celebrate triumphs, achievements, special moments, and brotherhood. Let every good Theta now fill up his glass – and drink to the health of her glorious past – Vive Le Theta Chi!
We introduce you to Vive. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this magnificent Napa Valley Brut exhibits rich fruit aromatics of strawberry and delicate white cherry that follows through to a creamy mid-palate accompanied with highlights of lime and wet minerality and a lingering vibrant finish.
It should be shared among brothers in celebration of all life’s victories! “Again and again, again and again, Vive Le Theta Chi!”
Resolute - Military Red:
Founded in 1856 at Norwich University, a military school, Theta Chi Fraternity has a proud military tradition and record of service. Since the Civil War, brothers have fought on land, sea, and air, with hundreds giving the last full measure of devotion protecting our freedom.
Military Red, the second of our Resolute series – our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that is a classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of black cherry, blackberry, and plum are complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant, and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.
Moody Park:
On Saturday, August 29, 1931, during the 75th Anniversary Convention primarily held at Norwich University, attendees traveled to Claremont, NH, the hometown of Theta Chi Founder Arthur Chase. While there, attendees enjoyed an old-fashioned New England clambake at Moody Park. A friendly greeting was extended by Councilor McInnis, a member of the official family of New Hampshire Gov. John G. Winant.
We introduce you to Moody Park. Rattlesnake Napa Valley's 2021 Rosé is a very refreshing and versatile wine, perfect to share on any occasion. Expect lovely notes of watermelon and strawberry to burst out of the glass with every sip. As you enjoy a glass of Moody Park, we hope you are surrounded with good friends and fellowship just as Convention attendees were in 1931.
