Wine Information:

Dead Reckoning:

When the wind is in your favor, and life’s waves are carrying you forward, the key to happiness is to recognize and appreciate these moments. We named Fairwinds to mark these special times and created our wines for you to ‘live in the moment’ and celebrate the fair winds and following seas of your journey.

While respecting the precision of modern navigation, mariners of old used the Method of dead reckoning. By taking the time spent on each heading and at each speed they could calculate the route and distance the ship had covered and mark a sea chart. For all the precision of modern winemaking, sometimes there’s no substitute for the tried-and-true art of dead reckoning.

We introduce you to Dead Reckoning. From the Russian River Valley AVA of Sonoma County, this beautiful wine is influenced mostly by the fog of the AVA and is very aromatic, with a velvet mouthfeel, and has a fruit character that is ripe and intense.

Fathom:

From the chalky soil of the Carneros region in southern Napa Valley, this gem exhibits lush green apple and bright grapefruit notes while dancing across your palate. This stunning wine is light and friendly with very subtle vanilla and pear blossom hints on the nose. Balanced fruit with tarte acidity makes this wine a classic example of Premium Napa Chardonnay.

Cut & Run:

When the wind is in your favor, and life’s waves are carrying you forward, the key to happiness is to recognize and appreciate these moments. We named Fairwinds to mark these special times and created our wines for you to “live in the moment” and celebrate the fair winds of your journey.

Sometimes you need to set sail urgently and should cut free the anchor or sever the ropes that unfurl the sails. There is always a time and place to cut and run.

We introduce you to Cut & Run. This 2019 Red Wine is an artful red blend created by winemaker Todd Heth. This wine exhibits dark blackberry, bing cherry and plum notes perfectly into layers of coffee and tobacco. The finish is dry with long lasting berry fruit. Silky but firm tannins, this wine is enjoyable now but has the ability to age well in the cellar.

Charlie Noble:

Charlie Noble is an "it," not a "he." A British merchant service captain, Charles Noble, is said to be responsible for the origin, about 1850, of this nickname for the galley smokestack. It seems that Captain Noble, discovering that the stack of his ship's galley was made of copper, ordered that it be kept bright. The ship's crew then started referring to the stack as the "Charlie Noble."

We introduce you to Charlie Noble. This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional champagne method – rivals anything found from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. Blended superbly from 100% Chardonnay, this magnificent Napa Valley Blanc de Blancs exhibits beautiful green apple and tropical notes in the aroma follow through in the mouth with a smooth fine mousse. This wine finishes with refreshing, lingering light tropical flavors that beg for another sip.

Blind Eye:

When the wind is in your favor, and life’s waves are carrying you forward, the key to happiness is to recognize and appreciate these moments. We named Fairwinds to mark these special times and created our wines for you to ‘live in the moment’ and celebrate the fair winds of your journey.  The brilliant and audacious Admiral Lord Nelson held the telescope to his blind eye and claimed not to see the signal to retreat. He won the battle.

We introduce you to Blind Eye. Crafted from a ridgetop vineyard on Mount Veeder, our Blind Eye 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the essence of its terroir. The long, cool 2019 season allowed for extended hangtime, resulting in a wine of remarkable structure and balance. Aromas of cassis, black cherry, and lingonberry intertwine with nuances of crushed cocoa, violets, and thyme. Silky tannins complement the complex fruit profile, leading to a lingering finish of black tea and kirsch.

2021 Rosé of Cabernet:

Our Rose of Cabernet 2021 hails from the Russian River Valley, offering a delightful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon in rosé form. Vibrant aromas of fresh strawberries and watermelon precede flavors of red berries and citrus zest. A crisp acidity and a hint of floral notes on the finish make this rosé a perfect companion for sunny days.
